Meet Our Team
I have been a dental hygienist for Sandy Point Dental since 2006. In high school, I became a dental assistant which made me want to further my education in dentistry and become a dental hygienist. I have been a registered dental hygienist since 2004. As a hygienist, it is very rewarding to see the transformations that occur when my patients become active in their oral health and well-being. Our hygiene team always goes the extra mile to make sure our patients receive the best experience. We offer the best techniques to aid in the removal of biofilm. From the air polisher, to our cancer screening Velscope, you truly have a one of a kind hygiene appt.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Jared, daughter Payton and son, Braden. Sandy Point Dental is the dental office for you! Whether it’s the warm smile that greets in person or the energetic voice over the phone, you will feel right at home from your very first visit.
As a recent dental hygiene graduate from Harper College in Palatine, this is my first hygiene job. However, this is not my first job in the dental field. Prior to my recent schooling, I was a dental assistant for one of our top referral specialists, Dr. Distel. Working alongside Dr. Distel is what grew my passion for helping others and motivated me to become a dental hygienist. I love what I do and enjoy working with patients to improve their overall health.
In my spare time, I am a tumbling coach in Huntley where I have been coaching children of all ages for 9 years. I’ve found working with children to be one of the most rewarding experiences that has helped me connect with kids here in the dental field on a different level.
My favorite oral health device is the Listerine Reach floss. Many patients of all ages have difficulty reaching their back molars with traditional floss. The extended handle on the reach makes manipulation of the floss easier, which in turn, makes flossing less of a hassle. This helps motivate patients to increase their flossing frequency.
I have worked in the dental field since 2000, and joined the team at Sandy Point Dental in 2007. While working in the dental field I have worked at the front desk and as a dental assistant, and working at Sandy Point Dental has allowed me to use all the skills I have obtained throughout the years. I enjoy working with patients and helping to educate them on maintaining good oral health. Our office carries a wide variety of products to choose from but my favorite is the Sonicare Toothbrush. When not at work I spend most of my time with my friends and family. I also enjoy relaxing and spending time with my husband and son.
I have always believed in “service with a smile” and there is no better place to offer up my smile than Sandy Point Dental. In 2007 I was welcomed into this office with open arms and I am happy to exchange the same gesture to everyone that comes through our door. I have always been dedicated to teaching and learning. After earning my Bachelors Degree in English from Northern Illinois University, I decided to test myself in the dental world. This field allows me to experience new things everyday and it lets me share those experiences with my teammates and patients. My life outside the exciting world of dentistry consists of reading, writing, playing tennis and spending time with my friends and family.
The experiences I have shared in this office have been truly educational. One product our office carries that happens to be a personal favorite of mine is the Woven Floss. This product gives my mouth a clean and refreshing feeling that I haven’t found from any other floss. It even has fluoride in it! My position here at Sandy Point Dental allows me to do what I love most ... SMILE!!
I have been working with Dr. John McNerney at Sandy Point Dental since July of 2013. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and my dog. Our Cerec machine is just one of the many things I love about Sandy Point Dental. This machine allows us to offer same day crowns/restorations which minimizes the patient’s time in our office and creates a crown of exceptional quality.
Starting off as a Nursing assistant, I made the decision to branch off into the dental field where I have worked for 3 years as an assistant, one of those being at Sandy Point Dental. The office has been more than welcoming and I’ve been able to educate myself in so many new things in the amount of time I’ve spent at Sandy Point.
I enjoy the up to date technology that Sandy Point provides for the patients, including CEREC, which enables us to deliver crowns in one appointment. I love the healthcare atmosphere and I enjoy being able to educate patients on proper oral health. When I’m not in the office, I balance furthering my education in college and spending time with my daughter.
I graduated from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family as well as a variety of outdoor sports such as kayaking, paddle boarding and trail running. My favorite part about this office is everyone’s attention to detail and the compassion for the patients.
When I decided to change careers and leave the floral industry, the Drs. And team at Sandy Point Dental welcomed me to a front desk/customer service position. Here I have found a wonderful family of dedicated professionals who love what they do!
It has been so rewarding to be a part of this health-centered dental office and to learn all about this exciting field. Dr. McNerney and Dr. Calabrese are truly artists in their field! I have seen such amazing cosmetic restorations and transformed smiles in my time here.
Most of all, I have loved getting to know our family of patients who continue to grow our practice by referring their family and friends to us. That is truly the highest compliment of trust I can imagine, and I know I am in the right place.
When I am not working, I love going to church and connecting with friends, spending time with my beautiful daughter, walking in nature, gardening or just curling up with a good book.
